Categorical representations of categorical groups

چکیده
The representation theory for categorical groups is constructed. Each categorical group determines a monoidal bicategory of representations. Typically, these categories contain representations which are indecomposable but not irreducible. A simple example is computed in explicit detail.

On the 3-representations of Groups and the 2-categorical Traces
To 2-categorify the theory of group representations, we introduce the notions of the 3-representation of a group in a strict 3-category and the strict 2-categorical action of a group on a strict 2-category. We also 2-categorify the concept of the trace by introducing the 2-categorical trace of a 1-endomorphism in a strict 3-category. For a 3-representation ρ of a group G and an element f of G, ...
متن کاملEffects of language experience and stimulus complexity on the categorical perception of pitch direction.
Whether or not categorical perception results from the operation of a special, language-specific, speech mode remains controversial. In this cross-language (Mandarin Chinese, English) study of the categorical nature of tone perception, we compared native Mandarin and English speakers' perception of a physical continuum of fundamental frequency contours ranging from a level to rising tone in bot...
متن کاملDistinct neural networks underlie encoding of categorical versus coordinate spatial relations during active navigation
It has been proposed that spatial relations are encoded either categorically, such that the relative positions of objects are defined in prepositional terms; or in terms of visual coordinates, such that the precise distances between objects are represented. In humans, it has been assumed that a left hemisphere neural network subserves categorical representations, and that coordinate representat...
متن کاملOn the hemispheric specialization for categorical and coordinate spatial relations: a review of the current evidence.
This article reviews current evidence on the hemispheric specialization hypothesis for two types of spatial relations representations; categorical versus coordinate [Psychol. Rev. 94 (1987) 148; J. Exp. Psychol.: Percept. Perform. 15 (1989) 723]. Categorical representations capture general properties of the spatial structure of a visual stimulus, without defining the exact metric properties. Co...

Clustering is one of the main techniques in data mining. Clustering is a process that classifies data set into groups. In clustering, the data in a cluster are the closest to each other and the data in two different clusters have the most difference. Clustering algorithms are divided into two categories according to the type of data: Clustering algorithms for numerical data and clustering algor...
